Flinders Discount Chemist offers free health checks in store, including blood pressure and blood glucose testing. A quick check at your local pharmacy is a simple way to keep an eye on your health between visits to your GP, and it can help you notice changes early.
Below is what our free health checks cover, what to expect and when to follow up with your doctor. To ask about a check, call us on (02) 4296 5548 or visit us at 7 Munmorah Circuit, Flinders NSW 2529.
Many community pharmacies in Australia offer quick checks that don’t need a doctor’s appointment. At Flinders Discount Chemist, our free health check service includes, but isn’t limited to:
When you visit, ask our team which other checks are available on the day.
Our pharmacy is at 7 Munmorah Circuit in Flinders, in the Shellharbour area, and we’re open seven days: Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm. Because the checks are free, cost doesn’t need to get in the way of keeping track of your numbers, whether you check once or make it part of your regular shopping trip.
Some health conditions, including high blood pressure, often cause no symptoms, so many people don’t know they have them until they’re checked. Blood glucose can also change gradually without you noticing.
Regular checks give you a record of your numbers over time. That record can make it easier to spot a change and talk it over with your doctor, rather than relying on a single reading taken once in a while.
A pharmacy check is a snapshot, not a diagnosis. If a reading is outside the usual range, we may suggest you see your GP, who can arrange further tests if they’re needed.
If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden weakness or numbness, or trouble speaking, call Triple Zero (000) straight away. Don’t wait for a pharmacy check.
If you’ve already been told you have high blood pressure or diabetes, keep seeing your doctor as planned. Pharmacy checks can sit alongside that care, but they don’t replace it.
Yes. Our blood pressure and blood glucose checks are free. Call us on (02) 4296 5548 if you’d like to ask about anything else before you come in.
It depends on your age, your health and your family history. Your GP can tell you how often is right for you. In between those visits, a free pharmacy check is an easy way to keep track.
No referral is needed for a blood pressure or blood glucose check at the pharmacy. If you’d like to share your results with your GP, write them down so you can take them to your next appointment.
